INTRODUCTION
The Agricultural
Extension Services Unit was created to establish and sustain Research Extension
Farmer Input Linkage Systems (REFILS) for effective research dissemination in
its geo-political mandate, covering North-West states. In line with these
broad objectives, the extension outfits shall:
• Provide
knowledge and skills training programmes for extension staff of States’ ADPs,
Agricultural agencies and selected farmers through regular Technology Review
Meetings (TRMs) and specialized in- service courses, workshops, seminars etc.
• Disseminate
agricultural research-based information to ADPs, relevant Federal and State
Ministries, agro-industrialists, primary agricultural producers and processors
and other users of agricultural research results and perform their community
services including consultative diagnostic/advisory services.
• Collaborate with NAERLS and other relevant Institutes and Organizations on extension activities.
GOAL
Ø The
revitalized vision within the Extension Unit aligns seamlessly with the
overarching vision set forth by the current management of our esteemed
Institute. This strategic vision places a heightened emphasis on fortifying our
outreach activities and fostering community engagement. The aim is to cultivate
a more robust and dynamic interaction platform, fostering a symbiotic exchange
of knowledge, expertise, and experiences between the Institute for Agricultural
Research (IAR) and its esteemed clientele.
Ø This forward-looking approach is designed to establish a harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship, amplifying the impact of our engagement efforts. By prioritizing community interaction, we aspire to create an environment conducive to comprehensive collaboration, ensuring that both the Institute and its stakeholders derive maximum value from this enriched exchange.
Ø In essence, the Extension Unit's renewed vision serves as a catalyst for building stronger bridges between IAR and its diverse community, with the ultimate goal of creating a sustainable and mutually rewarding partnership that extends far beyond the traditional boundaries of research and development.
