Introduction:
The
Gender Unit of the Research Institute is aimed at promoting gender inclusion
and equity across all activities of the Institute. Gender inclusion in Research Institutes is a critical aspect of
fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the scientific community.
Promoting gender diversity not only contributes to social justice but also
enhances the quality and impact of research. It cultivates a research
environment that values diversity of thought, perspectives, and approaches.
Justification:
Considering gender in agricultural research is important as it relates to food security, nutrition, empowerment, and poverty reduction. In each of these, women confront more limitations than men and play a crucial but frequently unacknowledged role. Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the scientific community requires gender inclusion in research institutions. In addition to advancing social fairness, encouraging gender diversity improves the calibre and significance of research.
