The Agricultural Research Station Mokwa, which covers over 200 hectares of land, is one of the Institute’s five outstations and plays a vital role in advancing agricultural research within the Southern Guinea Savanna agroecological zone. The station serves as a key location for adaptive trials, crop improvement activities, and the development of technologies suited to the unique climatic and soil conditions of the region.
Upon arrival, the Executive Director was warmly received by the Officer-in-Charge, Mr. Mohammed Olawale Ibrahim, alongside staff of the station. The visit provided an opportunity for the Executive Director to interact with staff, assess ongoing research activities, and appreciate the contributions of the station toward the Institute’s mandate of generating practical agricultural solutions for farmers.
The staff expressed great excitement and appreciation for the visit, noting that the presence of the Executive Director served as a strong source of motivation and encouragement for the team working at the outstation.
The visit further underscores the Institute’s commitment to strengthening its research stations, supporting staff, and ensuring that field-based research continues to deliver impactful technologies that address the needs of farmers across Nigeria’s diverse agroecological zones.

At IAR, research thrives from the laboratories to the fields.
