Today, 3rd December 2025, the Institute for Agricultural
Research (IAR) Ahmadu Bello University took another important step toward
strengthening digital efficiency and workplace productivity by organizing a
Step-Down Training on the Use of Microsoft Excel for selected staff across the
Institute. The training is part of IAR’s ongoing commitment to equipping its
workforce with essential digital tools needed for modern agricultural research,
data management, and administrative excellence.
The session was facilitated by the Institute’s ICT Officer,
Mr. Abdulaziz Mohammed, who delivered a practical and insightful training
experience. Participants were exposed to essential Excel functions, data
analysis techniques, formatting skills, and productivity shortcuts designed to
improve accuracy, enhance reporting, and simplify day-to-day tasks. The
training also provided hands-on exercises to ensure that staff can confidently
apply these skills to their research and administrative responsibilities.
This initiative reflects IAR’s dedication to continuous
staff development, capacity building, and the promotion of digital competence across
all units. By empowering staff with improved data-handling abilities, the
Institute strengthens its overall service delivery and enhances its mission of
supporting agricultural innovation and national development.
