Abbas Salisu

Abbas Salisu joined the services of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria on 26^th November, 2007 as Administrative Assistant in the Registry Department. He was promoted to the rank of Administrative Officer in 2010, Assistant Registrar in 2013, and rose to the present rank of Deputy Registrar with effect from 1^s' October, 2023.

Abbas Salisu served the university in many capacities that include:-

1.        Secretary/Accommodation Officer, Student Affairs Division, Kongo Campus (2008-2011)

2.        Assistant Faculty Officer, Faculty of Arts   (2011 -2015)

3.        Assistant Secretary, Institute of Administration, Kongo Campus    (2015 - 2019)

4.        Head, Retirement and Pension Unit, Human Resources Admin, Registry Department (2019-2025)

5.        Secretary, University Board of Survey - 2021 - Date

6.        Secretary, Committee to review the ABU Handbook of Administrative Procedures (2024)

In August, 2025 following the approval of the University Management, he proceeded to the Air force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna on Sabbatical appointment where he served as Deputy Registrar, Human Resources Management from 1^st September, 2025 - 31^sl August, 2026.

Sequel to the successful completion of his Sabbatical Leave at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna effective from 31^st August, 2026, Abbas Salihu was posted to the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR) as Institute Secretary to replace Mai. Alhassan Garba that recently retired from active service.

The new Institute Secretary obtained the following academic qualifications:

a.         BSc Political Science - (BUK) 2001

b.        Master of Public Administration (MPA) 2009 (ABU)

c.         Master of Philosophy (MPhil) - Public Admin (2018) ABU

d.        PhD in Public Administration obtained from ABU, Zaria (2026)
