The Institute for
Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, is
showcasing its agricultural research innovations and technologies at the 9th
International Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Society for
Underutilized Legumes (SUL), holding from 21–22 October 2026 at the NAERLS Ultra-Modern
Conference Hall, ABU Zaria.
The exhibition provides
an opportunity for IAR to highlight its research activities, improved
agricultural technologies and contributions to the development of legumes and
other crops that support food security, nutrition and sustainable agricultural
production.
Through its
participation, IAR is contributing to knowledge sharing and engagement among
researchers, scientists, policymakers, farmers and other agricultural
stakeholders. The event also provides a platform to exchange ideas, showcase
research outputs and explore opportunities for collaboration in the utilisation
and improvement of underutilised legumes.
Underutilised legumes
have considerable potential to contribute to food and nutritional security,
diversify farming systems, improve livelihoods and support sustainable
agriculture. Research into these crops can help unlock their value and promote
their wider adoption among farmers and consumers.
IAR’s participation
reflects its continued commitment to promoting agricultural research,
showcasing scientific innovations and strengthening collaboration with
institutions and stakeholders working to advance agricultural development in
Nigeria and beyond.
The Institute remains
dedicated to generating and disseminating improved agricultural technologies
that address farmers’ needs, enhance productivity and contribute to national
food security.
