Second Batch of KNARDA Staff Visit IAR on Agricultural Excursion

Today, 17th September 2025, the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, once again played host to the second batch of staff from the Kano Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA). The team included extension workers and management staff.
The visit underscored the strong and growing collaboration between IAR and KNARDA, aimed at equipping extension workers with the latest knowledge and skills to better serve farmers. This batch, like the first, was taken through departments, laboratories, and field demonstration units, where they interacted with scientists and gained firsthand exposure to IAR’s groundbreaking research and technologies.
Key highlights included innovations in maize and cowpea improvement, irrigation technologies, mechanization, and soil fertility management. Emphasis was again placed on ensuring that IAR’s technologies are practical, farmer-friendly, and tailored to local conditions for sustainable agricultural development.
The visiting staff expressed their appreciation for the depth of work being done at IAR and pledged to take the knowledge gained back to the grassroots, where it can make the most impact.
The excursion ended with a shared vision: a stronger IAR–KNARDA partnership dedicated to bridging research and practice, enhancing farmer productivity, and driving food security in Nigeria. ????????
