November 2024, the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello
University Zaria, extended its ongoing distribution of farm inputs and
implements to Gusau, Zamfara State.
Deputy Director Prof.
Nafiu Abdu, Assistant Director Extension, Monitoring, and Evaluation Prof. A.I.
Sharifai, and Dr. Jamilu Garba, Officer in Charge of Irrigation Research
Station, Talatan Mafara, led the event, ensuring that farmers received the
necessary tools and inputs directly without intermediaries. The items
distributed included fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, improved seeds,
sprayers, planters, threshers and rice reapers.
This vital intervention
is part of a collaborative effort championed by the Federal Ministry of
Agriculture and Food Security under Hon. Abubakar Kyari and the Federal
Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning led by Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu
(CON). These ministries’ steadfast support underscores their commitment to
empowering Nigerian farmers and enhancing agricultural productivity.

farming practices and improve yields. They lauded the transparency and
