Farm inputs and implements distribution continues in katsina state

Today, 16th November 2024, the Institute for Agricultural Research, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, extended its farm inputs and implements distribution drive to Katsina town in Katsina State. This initiative is part of a nationwide intervention aimed at empowering farmers and boosting agricultural productivity across the country.

The distribution was led by Deputy Director Prof. Nafiu Abdu, Assistant Director Extension, Monitoring, and Evaluation Prof. A.I. Sharifai, and Prof. A.A. Hassan. The team distributed essential farming inputs such as fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, improved seeds, and implements including sprayers, planters, and threshers directly to the farmers.

The farmers acknowledge the immense support of the Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, and the Honorable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu (CON). Their tireless efforts have ensured the success of this intervention, demonstrating their commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

The farmers in Katsina expressed deep gratitude for the initiative, noting how these resources would significantly enhance their productivity and reduce the burden of manual labor. Many described the distribution as timely, given the challenges faced in their farming practices.

This program underscores IAR’s dedication to supporting Nigeria’s agricultural transformation. Through collaborative efforts and strategic interventions, the Institute continues to empower farmers, improve food security, and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
