Institute for Agricultural Research ABU Zaria(IAR).

Today, on the 28th of March 2024, a remarkable milestone was achieved as African Agricultural Technology Foundation generously handed over essential facilities to the Institute for Agricultural Research, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The invaluable contributions include:

????Containment Facility: Equipped with a 100KVA solar system and cutting-edge technologies, this facility is poised to revolutionize research endeavors at IAR.

??Solar-Powered Cold Room: With a 30KVA solar power system, this cold room ensures efficient preservation of seed, extending their shelf life and reducing losses.

????Solar-Powered Irrigation Facilities: Covering 2 hectares of land, these irrigation facilities harness the power of solar energy to optimize water usage and enhance crop productivity.

The handover ceremony was graced by distinguished members of both IAR and AATF teams, including Prof. Ado A. Yusuf (Executive Director), Prof. Nafiu Abdu (Deputy Director), Prof. M.F. Ishiyaku (P.I. PBR Cowpea and former ED), Prof. L.J. Bamaiyi (Assistant Director Research), Prof. Aisha Mukhtar (Assistant Director Extension, M & E), Mal. Alhassan Garba (Institute Secretary), Mal. Nuhu Ayuba (Institute Auditor), Dr. S.M. Yahaya (Head, Agricultural Extension Unit), Prof. M.L. Lawal (Head, Department of Plant Science), Dr. Muhyideen Oyekunle (Plant Breeder), and Dr. M.A. Yahaya (Plant Breeder) from IAR, and Mr. Emmanuel Okogbenin (Director Program Development and Commercialization), Mr. Jean Baptiste Tignegre (PBRC Project Manager), Mr. Onyekachi Francis Nwankwo (Product Stewardship Manager), Dr. Ijeoma C. Akaogu (PBRC Program Officer), and Mr. Alex Abutu (Communication Officer) from AATF.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the journey towards sustainable agricultural development, empowering researchers and farmers alike to address pressing challenges and unlock new opportunities in the field.
