Welcome to the 1000FARMS CATALYTIC TRICOT INCEPTION WORKSHOP hosted by the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in collaboration with The Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA) at Bayero University, Kano, and the Lake Chad Research Institute (LCRI) in Maiduguri. We are excited to extend our warmest invitation to the team on the 7th of March 2024 at the Seminar Room, IAR Samaru.
This workshop marks the commencement of an ambitious endeavor,
as the joint collaboration between IAR, CDA, and LCRI has secured the prestigious 1000farms Catalytic TRICOT research grant for conducting on-farm TRICOT research in 2024. Covering 900 farmers across 5 states - Bauchi, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano, and Yobe - our project aims to revolutionize agricultural practices in the region.
The synergy among our sorghum, groundnut, and millet research institutes provides a significant advantage in resource optimization and management. Simultaneously testing these three essential crops prevents duplication of efforts in trial monitoring and field visits. Our dedicated team of technicians collaborates closely to ensure the success of this groundbreaking initiative.
The research team comprises esteemed scientists, including Prof. S. G. Mohammed, serving as the Project Principal Investigator from CDA, along with Drs. Maryam Dawud, Dr. Rekiya O. Abdulmalik, and Mrs. Hauwa O. Ahmed, leading breeders in millet, sorghum, and groundnut, respectively, from LCRI and IAR.
