The Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR),
Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, commenced
its 2026/2027 Programme Review Meeting with the Irrigation Research Programme,
providing a platform to evaluate research achievements, identify challenges and
strengthen ongoing research activities.
The session was chaired by Professor L. J. Bamaiyi,
who urged participants to pay close attention to the presentations and
contribute meaningfully to the discussions to ensure effective evaluation and
productive deliberations.
During the meeting, the Programme Leader, Professor

practical strategies for addressing the challenges confronting the programme.
A major component of the session was the
presentation of 10 ongoing researches (RPBs) and five new research proposals
(RPAs), which generated extensive discussions, constructive feedback and
valuable contributions from participating scientists.
The deliberations provided an opportunity for
researchers to exchange ideas, review ongoing activities and consider
approaches to improving the effectiveness and impact of the Institute’s
irrigation research.
In his closing remarks, Professor Bamaiyi
appreciated participants for their active engagement and valuable
contributions, emphasising the importance of collaborative discussions in
strengthening research planning, implementation and performance.
The session marked the beginning of IAR’s 2026/2027
