IAR Strengthens Agricultural Research Operations with Solar Power Installation at Mokwa
The
Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria,
under the leadership of its Executive Director, Prof. Ado A. Yusuf, has further
strengthened operations at the Agricultural Research Station, Mokwa, Niger
State, with the installation of a solar power system.
The
initiative is aimed at improving power supply, operational efficiency and
service delivery at the research station, while providing a more reliable and
sustainable energy source to support research and other essential activities.
The
installation is part of the Institute’s continued efforts to improve
infrastructure and working conditions across its research stations, ensuring
that scientists and technical staff have the necessary facilities to
effectively carry out their responsibilities.
Speaking
on the development, the Officer-in-Charge of the Agricultural Research Station,
Mokwa, Mr. Mohammed Olawale Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to the management
of IAR for the gesture. He noted that the provision of solar power would
contribute significantly to improving the efficiency of activities and services
at the station.
The
development demonstrates IAR’s commitment to strengthening its research
stations through investments in modern infrastructure, sustainable energy
solutions and improved operational capacity in support of agricultural research
and national development.
