Spotlight from the 9th
Africa Agriculture Science Week & 10th FARA General Assembly
The Institute for
Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, continues to make
a remarkable impact at the ongoing 9th Africa Agriculture Science Week and 10th
FARA General Assembly in Abuja, with its exhibition pavilion emerging as one of
the major attractions at the event.
Our pavilion has
welcomed a steady stream of visitors, including policymakers, researchers,
development partners, private sector stakeholders, and agricultural
enthusiasts, all eager to learn about IAR’s improved crop varieties, innovative
technologies, seed systems, and value-added products. The overwhelming interest
and positive feedback reaffirm IAR’s position as one of Africa’s leading
agricultural research institutions.
One of the highlights
of the event was the visit of the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food
Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, who visited the IAR pavilion and was received
by the Executive Director, Prof. Ado Yusuf. The visit provided an opportunity
to showcase the Institute’s contributions to agricultural research, innovation,
and food security, while highlighting IAR’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s
agricultural transformation agenda.
As the event continues,
IAR remains proud to showcase over a century of research excellence,
innovation, and impactful technologies that continue to improve farmers’
livelihoods and strengthen food systems across Nigeria and Africa.
