The Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has once again demonstrated its leadership in agricultural research, innovation, and technology dissemination by emerging as the Overall Best Exhibitor (1st Position) at the 2026 LCRI SeedConnect and Exhibition held alongside the Northeast Zonal REFILS Workshop in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The prestigious award
was presented by the Executive Director of the Lake Chad Research Institute
(LCRI), Prof. Babagana J. Kabir, to the Assistant Director, Extension,
Monitoring and Evaluation of IAR, Prof. A. I. Sharifai, who received the award
on behalf of the Executive Director, Prof. Ado Yusuf, and the entire Institute.
The recognition came
in appreciation of the Institute’s outstanding exhibition, which showcased a
wide range of agricultural technologies, improved crop varieties, seed
innovations, value-added products, extension materials, and research outputs
developed to support food security, climate resilience, and sustainable
agricultural development in Nigeria.
This achievement is a
testament to the dedication and hard work of the Institute’s scientists,
extension personnel, technical staff, and management, whose collective efforts
continue to position IAR as a leading agricultural research institution in
Nigeria and beyond.
