On 18th May 2026, the
Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, had
the pleasure of hosting students and staff of Great Bright Star Schools, Zaria
on an educational excursion visit aimed at exposing the students to practical
agricultural research and innovation.
The visit provided the
students with a valuable opportunity to learn beyond the classroom by
experiencing firsthand the activities of one of Nigeria’s leading agricultural
research institutions.
During the excursion,
the students were taken on a guided tour of the Institute where they were
introduced to various agricultural research activities, improved crop
varieties, seed technologies, and ongoing innovations designed to improve food
security and sustainable agricultural production.
The students also
interacted with researchers and staff of the Institute, who explained the
importance of agricultural research in addressing national food production
challenges and improving livelihoods through science-based solutions.
Throughout the visit,
the students demonstrated great enthusiasm and curiosity, asking insightful
questions and showing keen interest in agriculture, science, and innovation.
The management of IAR
commended Great Bright Star Schools, Zaria for organizing the excursion and for
contributing to the academic and practical development of their students
through exposure to real-world research environments.
The visit concluded
successfully with appreciation from the school and memorable learning
experience.
