The Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, is proudly participating in the Maiden National Legislative Summit and Expo on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions holding at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, on 13th and 14th May 2026.

The IAR delegation to the prestigious national event is led by the Executive Director, Prof. Ado Yusuf, alongside members of staff Dr. Sharhabil Musa Yahaya, Head Agricultural Extension Services, Musa Isah and Yohanna Ezekiel representing the Institute at the summit and exhibition.

At the expo ground, the Agricultural Extension Services of the Institute mounted an impressive and captivating display of IAR technologies, innovations, and research products, attracting significant attention, admiration, and enthusiasm from participants, policymakers, researchers, development partners, and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector.

The exhibition showcased a wide range of the Institute’s technologies and achievements, including improved crop varieties, seed technologies, biotechnology and tissue culture innovations, value-added agricultural products, simple agricultural engineering tools, extension materials, and research programmes that continue to transform agricultural production and livelihoods across Nigeria.

Visitors to the IAR stand expressed great interest in the Institute’s long-standing contributions to agricultural development, particularly its role in developing climate-resilient and farmer-friendly technologies that address food security challenges and support sustainable agricultural systems.

With an outstanding legacy spanning 104 years, the Institute for Agricultural Research continues to maintain its position as one of Nigeria’s foremost agricultural research institutions, leading in research excellence, innovation, technology development, and dissemination.

The summit and expo provide an important platform for strengthening collaboration among agricultural institutions, policymakers, legislators, researchers, and development partners toward advancing agricultural transformation and national development.
