IAR Showcases Innovations at The 17th National Agricultural Show In Karu, Nasarawa State


Today, 25th November 2025, the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria proudly joined participants at the 17th Edition of the National Agricultural Show, currently taking place along the Abuja–Keffi Road in Karu, Nasarawa State. The Institute will remain fully present and active throughout the event until Friday, 28th November 2025.

At the exhibition, IAR is showcasing a wide range of groundbreaking innovations, including improved crop varieties, mechanization equipment, value-added products from mandate crops, horticultural technologies, biotechnology breakthroughs, and tissue culture advancements. These displays have continued to draw enthusiastic farmers, students, policymakers, and agricultural stakeholders eager to learn from IAR’s contributions to national food security.

Leading the Institute’s delegation is Dr. Sharhabil Musa Yahaya, Head of Agricultural Extension Services, who is coordinating the Institute’s participation and interactions at the event.

A Significant Acknowledgment at a National Platform

Shortly after declaring the show open, the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, ably represented by Alh. Bukar Musa, Director, Department of Agriculture, commenced an inspection tour of the exhibition stands. In a notable recognition of IAR’s relevance, he began his tour at the IAR Pavilion, describing the Institute as strategically important to Nigeria’s agricultural development.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with IAR’s strong presence and applauded the Institute for its relentless work in improving crops, empowering farmers, and contributing meaningfully to national agricultural transformation. He urged the Institute to continue responding effectively to the needs of farmers across the country.

Crowds Troop to the IAR Pavilion

The IAR exhibition space has remained one of the most visited, with large numbers of participants eager to explore new technologies, interact with researchers, and ask questions about innovations that can boost productivity. Interest continues to grow as the event progresses, demonstrating the vital role IAR plays in shaping Nigeria’s agricultural future.

The Institute looks forward to engaging even more visitors as the National Agricultural Show continues through the week.
