The Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, proudly participated in the National Validation Workshop on the Agricultural Mechanization Policy 2025, organized by the Federal Department of Agricultural Mechanization (FDAM) under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS).
IAR was ably
represented by Prof. Aminu Saleh, Programme Leader of the Agricultural
Mechanization Research Programme, who stood on behalf of the Executive
Director, Prof. Ado Yusuf.
The workshop brought
together critical stakeholders including officials of the Federal Ministry of
Agriculture and Food Security, FAO, TOFAN, TOOAN, the Standards Organisation of
Nigeria (SON), the Nigeria Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE),
Permanent Secretaries from key federal ministries, industry leaders, and
professional associations.
This high-level
engagement provided a platform to:
Validate
the National Agricultural Mechanization Policy (NAMP 2025).
Foster
stronger collaboration between government agencies, development partners, and
research institutions.
Advance
strategies for farmer-centered mechanization, food security, and sustainable
agricultural transformation in Nigeria.
As Nigeria’s leading
national agricultural research institute, IAR reaffirmed its commitment to
mechanization research, innovation, and the development of sustainable
technologies that will empower farmers, reduce drudgery, and boost productivity
across the agricultural value chain.
