IAR Celebrates Prof. Ahmed Adamu on His Appointment as Pioneer Vice-Chancellor, University of Education, The Gambia (UEG)


The Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, is proud to celebrate one of its distinguished scholars, Professor Ahmed Adamu of the Department of Agronomy, on his historic appointment as the Pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, The Gambia (UEG).
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST) on behalf of His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia and Chancellor of UEG. The appointment followed a rigorous selection process conducted by the UEG Governing Council, culminating in Professor Adamu’s emergence as the institution’s first Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. Ahmed Adamu is a renowned scholar and respected academic leader with decades of impactful contributions to teaching, research, and institutional governance. His strategic vision and passion for research-led development are expected to drive UEG’s mission of becoming a world-class teacher training university and a hub of educational excellence in Africa.
