Highlighting Innovation

We are proud to announce that our former Executive Director, Prof. M.F. Ishiyaku, presented a Plenary Lecture at the prestigious 13th International Congress on Plant Molecular Biology, currently being held in Cairns, Australia, from June 24th to 28th, 2024.

Prof. Ishiyaku’s lecture, titled “Transgenic Cowpea Resistant to Podborer in West Africa: From Laboratory to Smallholder Farmers’ Fields,” showcased groundbreaking research and its impactful journey from the lab to the fields of smallholder farmers. His insights highlighted the transformative potential of transgenic crops in enhancing agricultural productivity and food security in West Africa.

This recognition underscores the innovative work being done at the Institute for Agricultural Research, Ahmadu Bello University and its significant contributions to global agricultural advancements.
